Chief Cook and Bottle Washer here for a 10 person company. This includes
internal and external co-lo/client machines as well as coding web solutions
that the design teams come up with.

The biggest solution to going crazy is planning your time. And planning
time for a crisis. ;-)

You need to make sure that you plan for maintenance to all the machines
under your care. Otherwise a machine will fail and it could have been
noticed if you were checking them all out regularly.

Also make sure that people schedule with you to get your time. Minimize the
"this will take just a second" stuff. There is time for that, but stick to
your schedule as much as possible.

Lastly when making your schedule make sure you prioritize between Important
and Emergency

		Emergency Non-Emergency

Important	These Come First	Second Tier

Not Important	Second Tier Third Tier

(Read a few of the Covey Books, 7 Habits, Putting First Things First.)

You don't have to be a slave to your schedule - maybe you just need to plan
on a week to week basis. But if you don't fill up your schedule with the
important things, the un-important things creep in and take over.
