instead of messing about with the server you could just

<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="0;URL=http://www.yournewsite.com">

obviusly if the content is redundant this is ok but if there is stuff there that
needs to be access not the solution, so those pages will need to be incorporated
in to the new site, sounds very simple, did I get the question right?

I have an interesting query, and wonder if anyone on here has an answer for
me. :-)

I am the webmaster for about 20 schools, including the administration
office. Until we unified under one domain (www.ecasd.k12.wi.us) we had all
of the email and web going to separate addresses for the schools (i.e.
www.north.ecasd.k12.wi.us). Now everything is under one umbrella (except
individual pages) and there is a web domain out there
(www.central.ecasd.k12.wi.us - the address for the administration building)
that only points to www.ecasd.k12.wi.us. I'm still seeing over 1100 requests
a day for that address, and we want to get rid of it eventually. Is there a
way for me to catch any requests going into www.central.ecasd.k12.wi.us and
give them a page that says 'hey... our address has changed... bookmark the
new one, this one will expire in 30 days' or something like that?

I've heard (maybe) that there's a way to do this with apache. We,
unfortunately, are running IIS though. Any ideas? No idea is too much, I
have full access to the servers, and we tend to us ASP for any scripting.

Also, I wonder, would it just be easier to set it up on a site with nothing
in it and make the 404 custom page the redirect? Anyway... I'm curious to
see what people have to say! Thanks in advance!

Erik
