Hi all,
a fairly extensive site I have been building with XHTML and CSS for a
charity fund is nearing completion and entering public alpha testing. It
is written in C# using ASP.Net and almost entirely based on XML/XSL.
Anyone with 5 spare minutes on their hands is invited to visit
http://www.stiftung-noah.de to see if it works ok for them.
A few caveats:
1. Both JavaScript and Cookies must be activated, because certain
functions of ASP.Net rely on them. Appropriate error messages *should*
be displayed on site if anyone accesses pages therein without JS or
Cookies active. We are aware that this will exclude/piss off some
people, but that is in line with our research about our target audience.
2. A quirk (a.k.a. bug)in the HTML produced by some Microsoft ASP.Net
Server Controls means that although I have coded to XHTML Strict
wherever possible the Doctype (and validation) are limited to XHTML Trans.
3. I have made custom Stylesheets for the following browsers:
MS 5+ (Windows + Mac)
NN 6+ (Windows + Mac)
Mozilla (Windows + Mac)
Opera 5+ (Windows + Mac)
Any other browser/OS is currently served a plain page (and
webstandards.org upgrade notice) without any styles at all, although I
will probably get around to sweetening the plain style a little.
Due to the limitations of the individual browsers the page will render
with certain differences in each browser/OS, but I can live with that so
far. Actually, NN6+ and Mozilla on Mac are served the same CSS as on
Windows, so I would be interested to know if that is ok, beuase I only
have Mac OS 8.6 and couldn't get a Mozilla based browser to install.
Thanks for your time.
