FWIW there's a nice DW4 extension by LineCraft that does something like this
too.

Re using forms instead of mailto's, be sure to use a form script that
doesn't require the recipient's address to be embedded in a hidden field.
The one at http://nms-cgi.sourceforge.net allow you to embed a code as the
hidden field and the script itself translates that into a specified email
address. That should defeat spammers.
