I do have postcast running this was the plan!  I was wondering whether it is the
way forward?  Have I overlooked anything etc etc

After retrieving the email addresses/info, you can turn your local
machine into an smtp server using PostCast:  http://www.postcast.com/
It's not free, but then then again it does everything you want it to, and
how much is your time worth?
