not necessarily...

if you have *.lamarathon.com pointing to one server, anything you add before
it will go there, as long as not it doesnt have a specific subnet entry...

so it appears that

*.lamarathon.com has a A record point to a site
www.lamarathon.com has an A record pointing elsewhere

so anything.lamarathon.com would grab the initial wildcard.

the best way to do this is remove the www so that its included in the
wildcard... and fix the wildcard entry to it points to the correct server.

that way, if someone accidentally puts in web.lamarathon.com  or even
ww.lamarathon.com -- it will still get there.
