Thanks Jerry this is really useful. However, I need some rough ideas not
definitive answers on this one. I would like to recommend that PHP is used with
MySQL and then get a couple of dedicated servers, one for the site one for the
email functions. But is this going to be enough.

Andrew

Andrew,

Your requirement list is very vague and impossible to qualify. Visit this
link
http://www.speedev.com/goog_req_mgmt_o.asp
to get an idea about what a requirement step should look like.

A few years ago I attended a 3-day seminar centered entirely on the science
of requirements management. We actually spend the bulk of the first day
just understanding the definition of a requirement and, at the very least,
should be able to be treated as an individual entitiy that is quantified,
wualified, and testable . For instance, simply stating "the system should
be user friendly" is no good. How do you qualify such a statement? One
person's user friendly is another person's bane. One of your requirements
states that the number of users should be unlimited. Not possible!

Visit the above link. This should be a good starting point. Good luck!

Jerry
