% One question is what are some good ways of getting the right people
% to the site. Forget search engines and all that - forget the basic
% stuff. What about some good guerilla tactics - posting to discussion
% boards, chat rooms and the like.

Post valuable information on those boards, become
a part of the community, and only then offer links
to your own stuff off-site, and clearly mark it as
a promo. Unless promos are verboten, in which
case don't do it at all - though a one-line message
in your .sig becomes a good advert if it's attached
to valuable advice.

Think above all of this: if Rudy started a commercial
site providing database-related information, would
you go there? I'll bet you would. Always bear in
mind *why* you would, based on his conduct on thelist,
and you'll have pretty much the right idea.

Also, to avoid doubt - Rudy isn't plugging a site here.
He's just that cool naturally ;-)

<ot>Of course if they *want* a mailing list server,
give me a call... </ot>
