Doesn't sound like it's the size, if it's dumping at line 320.

If you reach the point you're looking for ghost problems, try my 'invisible
elves' resolution: make a copy of the file, and manually delete and retype
the offending line and a bit of context, perhaps one above and one below.
I've spent loads of time searching for coding errors which apparently were
caused by invisible control characters or other corruption.
