If you're using apache, then you can use the virtual() function, which
basically makes another request to the server, as if someone had just
typed http://www.yourdomain.com/thing.tom into their browser.

If not, then I can't think of a simple solution, sorry. There's almost
certainly a way round it, but it would depend on the particular
situation, maybe you could explain a bit more about what these files
do?
