No worries, I know *why* it does it.

I've set height on the content div to 600px and the footer is relative
to that, but I don't know *how* to fix it for Opera so that on short
pages the footer comes near the bottom of the page, rather than at the
end of the content div (if I take out height so it grows with the
content - it also shrinks!)

I tried min-height but that plays tricks in IE6.0 so that images in the
content div *go behind* something...

and overflow:auto puts a scroll bar in the div in IE6.0 and hides the
overflow in Opera.

It's probably something to do with z-index and relative divs....

short of an expert's advice I'll just keep tinkering.
