Don't assume anyone has any idea what you are talking about.

Use the TITLE attribute for ACRONYM and ABBR to define an abbreviation or
acronym the first time you use it on a web page.

Warning: Do not get sucked into the argument about what is an ACRONYM and
what is an ABBR.  This will lead nowhere.  If you want to argue over
something, at least make it something worthwhile like font sizes (pixels or
flexisize?), browser sniffing (just say no), or whether chocolate is better
than vanilla (it is).

Me, I use ACRONYM all the time because IE6/Win doesn't support styling for
ABBR, proving once again that a gabillion dollars doesn't guarantee you
good software.

Then again, overwritting IE 4.0 is almost as morally upright as stopping a

Expensive option: Buy a Mac, run Virtual PC.

Cheap option: Run 6 and use "quirks" mode to check what it "kinda sorta"
looks like in 5.x and accept that life is too short to muck with IE more
than you have to

If your job depends on seeing web pages in 5.0 and/or 5.5, get a second PC
or dual boot.

The world will spin off its axis, the planet will hurl towards the sun, and
all life as we know it will end.

Ok that won't happen, but I guarantee you that the above process would
FUBAR your registry so badly that you'd be lucky to boot into safe mode.

Don't do it.

Don't try it.

Don't think about it.

IE is part of Windows.  Think of it as inbreeding.  You're now considering
adding several other very closely related siblings to the mix.  The 'net
(ha!) effect will be much worse than webbed (ha! again) toes....
