Yep, and in common with your earlier email, Zope's the answer.

Zope 2.6 comes with ZCatalog, which allows you to index just about anything
using plug-able index modules.

You might want to start with looking through the list of content products
available on Zope.org (http://www.zope.org/Products/content_object)


Alternatively, on a *nix box, you might want to look at swish-e (
http://www.swish-e.org ) which is pretty cool.
