now i know why my ears were burning this morning.

i have opinions on the javascript dreamweaver spits out.  there are some
people on this list that'd rather not hear them.  so, to keep things short,
but informative, i'll dispense with the usual rant and keep it short.

the javascript dreamweaver produces is almost always overkill for the task
at hand.  for example, the typical image swapping function will include code
to find an image and swap in layers to support dhtml and nn4, swap images
across frames, etc.  how often do those extra bits actually get used?  i
prefer to keep my scripting extremely short and to the point.  so, i'd
rather write my own that doesn't what i want and only what i want than use
the overly verbose stuff that dreamweaver produces.  a hidden benefit is
that the scripts i write are usually easier to understand and follow for
other people because they're succinct.  here's an example:
