For the sake of verity I guess I was too vague. My Mother-in-law got
on the phone with ebay and they told her (from her words) it was
"spam". The guy said they don't use customer account numbers, nor do
they put cc#'s in correspondance like they did in the email I
attached. I didn't talk to him directly of course, but from what she
said - they guy is claiming they did not send any such email and that
they got calls all day about it from lots of people. (Note: I can't
find anything regarding this on the news anywhere today).

I only got a copy of the email sent to me that I sent to the list.
"<aw-confirm at ebay.com>" is in the email.

Per above - what I heard second hand - that the guy at ebay told my
mother-in-law this. I find the whole thing strange. She said he said
he would make a note on their account they were going to get a new CC
number and enter it and gave them correct instructions on how to do
so.

I think I'll make a call myself to see what I can find out.
