I've just tried http://www.invisionboard.com and think it's excellent.

with no restrictions. You are also granted the right to remove all the

this license.

Restricted License - $ 0.00 (free)
The restrictions placed on this license do not permit you to remove the
copyright and powered by messages which the software outputs on your page.
However, you can use Invision Power Board for free under this option.

I've just tried the free version, haven't needed any support, and am happy
with their branding...
