well, i feel it is best to generally abide by 'old standard'
guidelines, like
http://www.math.fu-berlin.de/~guckes/mail/sig.etiquette.html for
.signatures; i think including a laundry list of all the things you do
is going much too far; who you are, what you do (designer vs. perl
hacker vs. DBA, etc.) and a link to your resume/portfolio/personal site
is sufficient, imo.

<rant>
i particularly hate signatures (for list postings, anyway) that include
a three-line fortune-style quote or a huge paragraph of legalese about
the intended audience and acceptable use of an email.  there's enough
garbage appended to every post as it is.
