What sort of calendar? An community events calendar, or planning/appointment
calendar? Does it need to accept user input or admin-only access?

We just finished (sort of) one very, very loosely based on the code at
php.net. It's PHP/MySQL based. The code at php.net uses flat file, I think,
so that was one of the more significant changes we made.
