I agree.  I suggest that you download the latest version of MDAC and update
both machines, the database server, and any other machine in the
environment.  I'm not sure if MFC42.DLL is part of MDAC, but I _still_
recommend it as a general practice.  Here's why:

Some softwares will try to update a DLL that is part of MDAC because it
thinks it's helping.  In fact, that can cause slight DLL mismatches which
may break other applications.  I find that by downloading and installing the
latest version of MDAC the database environment tends to stay a lot more
stable in general.
