[thelist] New dev server problems

I am setting up a development box with RH 7.3.   I have apache/php 
installed and working.  I am having an issue that I hope someone can help with.

When I try to connect to the mysql database with existing code, I get the 
following error..... Call to undefined function: mysql_connect().  This 
tells me that the mysql functions are not installed.  When I do a phpinfo, 
mysql is compiled in.  Mysql is installed as I can connect to it via a 
telnet prompt.

Can anyone help with this?
