Hi Chris

Thanks for the reply. Yep - I tried doing it all via the command line.
This is what I really don't understand. I set the privileges, and I can
test them by running different commands that I didn't set ('drop',
'reload' etc) and those tests seem to show that the privileges were set
correctly (ie, I get a 'not allowed' message). If I check via
phpmyadmin and the command line, privileges that I granted ('select',
'update', 'delete' etc) are all set to 'N'. Even after reloading.

Arrgh!

For the life me I can't see anything wrong with this:

Grant select, insert, update, delete on jargon.* to jargonadmin
identified by 'password';

But it just does not want to work. The only way I can get it to work is
by inserting values into the 'user' table of the mysql db, but as I'm
running MySQL4.x version of MySQL, 'grant' should work.

Thanks for the heads up about MySQL control center - I'll check it out.

Regards

F
