a nice to have (sometimes), but not necessary.

minus the missing alt attribute on the <img> tag, the page validates as is:

nope, dom 0 things like the forms array, elements arrays, images, arrays,
links arrays, etc. aren't deprecated  and aren't going away anytime soon (if
ever in our "lifetime").  2 points to you for using the right word though.
