[thelist] Hiveware email address encoder

Rudy

I respectfully disagree. Your logic is akin to someone stealing a freshly
baked pie, on someone's windowsill, and it's the baker's fault for leaving
it out there in the first place! All the spammer's know that e-mail's are
unwanted, just like all the telemarketers know that all their phone calls
are unwelcome as well.
E-mail address's are there for legitimate business reasons and not for
unwelcome marketing attempts, by people looking for a sucker to scam. It's
ridiculous to think that I can't advertise my e-mail address without
worrying that I'll be bombarded by con-artists, there needs to be some kind
of protection there. If someone were to look at my resume online they would
easily find my name, address and telephone number. But I don't worry that
some lunatic will come to my house and harass me because I know the
law-enforcement agencies will come to my aid. (I hope! :)).
I agree that measures now a day's should be taken, by creating a form, but
to place the blame on us, for something we don't want or ask for, is
ridiculous.

Peace be with you.

yes, it sure is

go outside when it's raining, and you'll get wet

put a mailto: on your web page, and you'll get spam

i'm amazed that you're amazed

and let's be clear, there are two different kinds of sites -- personal and
professional

a professional site should be using a web form, an 800 number, a snail mail
address, and yes, if it has the big bucks to implement fancy-schmancy spam
filters, go ahead and post a mailto on the site

a personal site? well, YOU are responsible for that, and if YOU put a
mailto on YOUR site then YOU are gonna get spam, and it *is* YOUR fault

like i said, i'm amazed that you're amazed

especially for a guy who knows who squidward is -- YOU amaze ME
