you make it sound like it's such a time-consuming chore.  it isn't.

item 1 above happens, if necessary, during my semi-monthly visit to
windowsupdate to make sure i've got all the latest patches.  item 2 and 3
only happen once when you first do an install.

honestly, i can't remember when i actually downloaded a patch or update
specifically for outlook.  i remember applying the office service pack, but
that's it.
