[thelist] detect held-down mouse button

is there a way to detect a held-down button, -while-
the mouse is moving? Consider events in two cases:
1. mousedown, mousemove, mouseup
2. mousemove

I want to detect during a mousemove event, if a mousedown
has occurred.
