The problem with these is that you are specifying a character in a
character set, rather than an entity that refers to the symbol itself.
Similar to posting your website as http://64.62.145.36/ instead of using a
domain name. It works as long as the value doesn't change (or in this
case, as long as that number refers to an available character in the
current character set/font that looks like what you want), but if it does
change then you've got a mess that you've got to go back and fix (the
original problem). Don't some browsers support ™ ? Unfortunately, in
a browser that doesn't, it shows up literally, which is very undesirable.
