Hi Bruce,

That is done using scripts, usually JavaScripts. If you are intent on having 
that, there are severa cautions:

1.  It is very easy to confuse your vistors using this format. It works best 
if you have well-defined categories or if you have regular visitors and know 
their way around.
2.  It takes time to learn how to do this.
3.  Be careful that the drop downs do not obscure other info.

I would suggest that you check some template sites (TheTemplateStore ?) and 
buy a prototype. This is the quickest way to break into it.
