A C programmer once gave me a great password tip - use the first letters 
 from a song or verse or phrase you remember well.

Better than your pet, girlfriend, or joke!

but still hackable by a talented anagram fan.

using really complicated ones and writing them down with cryptic codes for 
where to use them seems to make most sense.
