Of course, it could be sad if the higher ranking for his site
returned the evolt list archive rather than the site itself.

If management tries to knock him over for blowing the whisle, at
least in his defense he has drummed up some google ranking without
even touching the site.

In all seriousness, it isn't a good idea to publicly trash your
comapny. Some manager is bound to get offended, especially the one
who okayed the expense.
