Spiders work on their own, following links from other sites to yours,
and then indexing it.  You don't have to pay anyone a dime to get in a
search engine.  Directories are a different story, and in my opinion, a
waste of money.

A good free service to get you going is submit-it.com, but if you're
already ranked- don't worry about it.
