Hi Kris,

I'm a fan of the way Evolt (www.evolt.org (as if you didn't know!)) does 
it and also ALA (www.alistapart.com)

Both have their merits - ALA for displaying clear non-cluttered article 
previews, Evolt for displaying relevant information on the articles 
while displaying the wide range available.
