Thanks Damien, l checked in myphpadmin, and when l hit the 'export' tab,
under DATA l have the following options:
Complete inserts
Extended inserts
Use delayed inserts
and then insert, update or replace.
l'm assuming also that l save the file as a SQL? l can also choose latex
(??!!), XML, CSV or CSV for excel...
l have also attached a file l just 'exported', would someone mind taking a
look at it for me and telling me whether it does actually seem to be a
database backup? l don;t see any products in there, but l don;t really know
what l'm looking for :O)
Thanks in advance :O)
Gabbie

Subject: RE: [thelist] php myadmin - database backup question
when you are on export in phpmyadmin you have the choice of
STRUCTURE
or
STRUCTURE + DATA
that's the second one you should have selected.
I don't know Zencart, but if the images are not stored in the database
but on the disk (and the path only is stored in the database) then you
won't be able to save your images, you have to download them via FTP
separately.
I export my tables and save them on my hard drive with the name of the
database and the current date.

When l am in phpmyadmin, how do l actually go about backing up the
database? Do you just export it to your desktop (and then save on disk?)
