Hi,
I used http://philer.sourceforge.net/ as a starting point.
Two nicest aspects were that it has not been styled yet, so easy to customize, 
and that it doesn't have a built-in file upload option, so if you're 
processing 1000s of files you don't have to upload them one by one in the 
interface. You can upload by FTP, or dump them in a network share.
