If you can with pinnacle, try and make a quick fade to white and back in
about 3 seconds. Interviews use this often.

If pinnacle cant do that, try getting the trial of VegasVideo from Sonic
Foundry. http://www.sonicfoundry.com/
Its powerful and pretty easy to use.
