I agree, but in this case my visitors will expect to be going where I 
send them, and if I don't they will be annoyed. It's a workaround so 
that I can avoid hard-coding.

That's good to know. I'm interested in search engine stuff. I didn't 
realize that redirects are potentially penalized. Fortunately, this 
project I'm working on is mostly on an intranet or downloaded and used 
on the file system --plus it uses frames. Search engine-wise it's a 
house of horrors. But it works for the purpose it's intended for.

I'll probably go with the javascript unless it appears the meta tag is 
faster.
