[thelist] problems with music into a website

Why not inform the client that many people listen to music while
surfing, and websites that suddenly start playing music can be really
annoying*.

I often have 10 or more tabs open at any one time, so whenever a site
has music I have to play hunt the annoying site in my browser to turn
the dammed thing off. More often than not I'll close the site down than
actually look for the music off switch. In my experience, sites that
have to fall back on gimmicks like music usually do so because they are
poorly conceived, poorly designed or lacking in any useful content. Not
always the case, but more often than not. I have music aversion like
many people have banner, pop-up, frames or flash aversion. I'd be
interested if anybody has any hard facts about peoples perception of
sites that use music.
