Hi Mark,

Thanks for these suggestions!  I will try this.

The problem is that it isn't just lines that are disappearing - it's regular
sized (11pt), black text too.

The stroke of your line in your tables may be too thin to display. Since you
are running this through Distiller, your settings may be set to down sample
too much, thus losing the smaller, thinner details of your page. Try setting
your Distiller settings to Press Optimized and see if the lines appear. If
they do, then just monkey around with the settings in Distiller until you
get an acceptable balance of file size and document fidelity.

Also, have you zoomed in on the document in Acrobat? The lines may be there,
just not visible until you are at 100%.
