Hi Sarah,

> the Google toolbar takes up a whole other row on it's own

you don't need the google toolbar when you can load in loads of search
engine services into the search box in Firefox (see below).

wasn't there a post here only days ago with the code to copy into your
Firefox prefs file to make the toolbars of any theme narrower?

<tip type="multiple search engines in Firefox" author="Stuart Young">
A feature of a modern web browser is the ability to decide which search
engine to use for the search box rather than being restricted to a
single service. A feature of a truely modern web browser is the ability
to extend the list of available search engines. Firefox lets you do
this.

With Firefox open, click on the search box downwards arrow to show a
menu - the bottom option is "Add Engines". Clicking on this takes you to

http://mycroft.mozdev.org/download.html
where you can choose from hundreds or thousands of different
specialised search engines.

To search on Google (pages from New Zealand) I used to have to either
1) type in google.com into my web browser and hit enter, automatically
redirected to google.co.nz with "the Web" selected, type in search term
and select "Pages from New Zealand" instead, hit enter.
2) type in search term in browser toolbar and click Search - takes me
to a google.com results page, edit the URL to change google.com to
google.co.nz, hit enter, takes me to a google.co.nz results page with
"the Web" selected, select "Pages from New Zealand" instead, hit enter.

Now, I just type the search term into my Firefox toolbar, choose Google
NZ from the list of search engines, hit enter and I'm there.
