Elitism. Elitism, Elitism. In order to prove their worth to all the
other people around them, they must show how much better they are and
the best way to do that is by (a) putting everyone else down who uses
anything remotely close to a wysiwyg tool and (b) by showing how
superior they are by the fact that they use a tool like
notepad/vim/emacs/assembly language/binary to code all of their sites.

Personally, it makes me sick. :-(

I completely agree here. I use those same tools all the time.

I am a huge suporter of Dreamweaver and I use it on all of my sites.
My favorite features are the site management, code completion and the
code snippets. I also like the wysiwyg part as well. If I need to lay
something out quickly, I can just go into design mode.

Now before anyone bashes me, I generally hand code or at least hand
tweak all of my sites and they all use valid html or xhtml and they
are all created in Dreamweaver.

It is not the tool that makes the artist, but the artist's skill with
that tool. I have never seen a chisel create a masterpiece. Far too
many people forget that.
