Sheesh. Kinda dramatic...

Why not just send *both*? People with HTML-capable clients get your
nicely branded message, other people get plain text.

To the OP -- search on the MIME type "multipart/alternative" for
examples.

If you're using a Servlet 2.4 container, the Jakarta Mailer2 taglib
makes this wonderfully easy, but there are probably tools available
for other environments.
