Thanks for the recommendations. I checked out TightVNC and downloaded the
latest version; had it working across the network in 10 minutes and it does
everything I want - very clean install. The security as it stands is enough
for my needs, but I note it can do secure tunnelling. The moment of truth
will of course, be when my mother crashes something for the first time when
I'm back in Australia in January...
