I've found it helpful when cookies are involved also .. If you have autofill with cookies, using the reset button clears all the fields.

In my opinion, the only use of a Reset input type is if you have radio 
buttons.  if by deault, they can be left blank, but then, one is 
checked, it cannot be uncheck by any other means besides the reset button.
