Nothing happened to them; the solution proved safe in addition to being
effective[0].

[Obviously] users with Javascript disabled were not privy to a Javascript
facilitated solution. The use of a client-side scripting technology -
probably javascript - is implied in the suggestion to use the onload event
handler. To qualify my statement that the solution proved effective: the
solution proved effective in the statistical majority of cases without
detracting from the user experience for or denying any functionality to
users without javascript enabled.

If core functionality is available to all users, it is often appropriate to
add user interface enhancements to a web browser based system that will not
be available to all users. The major decision is not whether or not to
implement a given enhancement, but whether or not the effort to return ratio
is acceptable in doing so.

The above is based on my experiences - do those of others differ?
