[thelist] embedding (?) audio

Thanks to all who replied to the question I posted about making audio
available on a site. I'm not sure I understood each of the solutions you
presented, but I do have some stuff to try and to work with and -- maybe
just as importantly -- if (when) I get stuck later down the road, I've a
better idea of the right questions to ask!

This list is a great resource.

It should be noted, too, that many users disable image viewing due to
its abuse for advertising, or bandwidth, assuming they can even receive
them to begin with.

It should also be noted that whilst a lowest common denominator option
should always be available, that there is a reasonable expectation that
on a musician or band's website, there may well be 'inline' audio. Just
as a (graphic) designer or photographer's website may just have the odd
image or two.

Balance the needs of availability and experience. If you do it via a
Flash player, or any other means, also offer a 'offline' download
option. But don't feel that such options must be avoided like the
plague, either.
