don't know how the interface may have changed, but for most of my work i 
use gimp over photoshop.  still use photoshop for the "fine art" stuff, 
but use gimp for web graphics.  as svg takes hold and modern browsers 
are build to support it natively, inkscape is my program of choice for 
vector images for the web; xara x for print and fine art.
