 well yes, i have to agree with Crhis - soften it up with say a 70% 
transparency but then it may have the wrong look.

whats that brown bar at the bottom?

i like those pictures - but are they stock? will i get to know their 
names? something tells me that their only contribution to the site is to 
look the part, but i wont know their "story".

what about the content - is it set to change every week? i searched for 
an rss feed so i have a feeling, if it is, its going to be done by hand.

hmm. not sure i like the rollover going to yellow on white - its almost 
illegible. maybe a reddish colour is better?

img id's - not familar with with the name of images - why is this 
necessary? you have extra info on the img but not the href's

eg

but most imgs appear to have alt's but not href - is this a new thing to alt the img but not the href

confused there.
