You want at least the 1.4 j2se sdk.

http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html

Make sure you download teh *sdk* and not the jre (java runtime
environment). You do not need j2ee (enterprise edition).

There is also j2se 1.5 (marketing name: j2se 5.0). But, you want at
least 1.4, as it has the NIO package (fast I/O). See:
