[thelist] CSS in HTML E-mail?

<snip>I need to create an HTML e-mail and received some samples of the kind
of thing that is needed. They were quite well done, but I was somewhat
surprised to see CSS used for the font styles etc.

Is that a good idea? That is, can the various e-mail clients be relied upon
to handle CSS correctly (or at all), or is it safer to use basic HTML for
e-mail? </snip>

I have put a bit of thought into html emails, and as other people have
pointed out there is no easy and simple solution.

The best advice I can give is to test and test. I find that a limited use of
CSS works OK (mainly styling), but with a mixture of traditional HTML.

Another piece of advice that was passed onto me is to be careful with the
method you use to send out your html emails. I use an email program that
sends out clean html, but something like Outlook completely screws it up.

Cheers

Justin
