It's the latter, the columns must flow whatever way it needs to, depending on where you added or
subtracted an item (or items) from. Not sure what you mean by changing the flow, so far they want
it vertical if that is what you mean (horizontal would be a piece of cake)

    are the columns independent, or would removing an item in column two
    require columns three and four to flow backwards?
