The first thing that I did was go to the Apple store on Regent's Street.
The sales guy that I talked to was disappointingly ignorant. All I
really managed to get was a tirade against Windows from someone who by
their own admission hadn't used it since Windows 98, and a superficial
demo of how to access files and programs. This was not at all what I was
expecting, but after some time Googleing I found someone who had got a
beta version of Vista to boot (in principle), and someone who had a
triple boot of Windows, Linux and OSX. It all looked quite interesting.

I've wanted a Mac for some time, so my idea was to offset the cost of
the MacBook Pro by doubling it as a development machine; as I mentioned
this must be a Windows environment.
